2011 Events

GC4G kicked off its 2011 fundraising efforts with a booth at Mineral Exploration Roundup, the world's premier technical mineral exploration conference held annually in Vancouver, BC. In addition to promoting the Foundation at Roundup 2011, we hosted our annual winter fundraising party and silent auction at Smiley's Public House on January 26th, 2011. This popular evening event was a great success thanks to the generous support of our Sponsors and many guests. We exceeded our goal and raised more than $37,000 from ticket sales, donations, the silent auction and sponsorships -- our most successful event to date. In addition to our annual fundraiser, GC4C was the beneficiary of the May 19th Cambridge Club Networking Event held at the Rooftop in the Hotel Vancouver. The Cambridge Club, (founded by Cambridge House International -- the premier resource investing conference specialists, www.cambridgehouse.com) hosts numerous events throughout the year to promote networking opportunities primarily focused within the mining & mineral exploration industry while providing assistance to charities/foundations. This event raised $3,500 for our foundation and we would like to thank Cambridge House for their commitment to and support of our foundation.

These successful fundraising events have allowed GC4C to continue our support to the Kenya Education Endowment Fund (KEEF) (www.kenyaeducation.org), which provides assistance, among other things, to bright students who can't afford all or part of their school-related fees in Kenya's impoverished rural Western Province. In addition to supporting KEEF, the success of our 2011 fundraising has enable GC4C to initiate support to Yukon Food For Learning (YFFL) (http://www.yukonfoodforlearning.ca) a group that supplements children's meals at school in the Yukon Territory.

The funds raised by GC4C in 2011 are specifically directed toward the following purposes:

Kenya Education Endowment Fund
  • Sponsored four new boys from a remote village for their 4 years of secondary education;
  • Picked up partial sponsorship of four addition boys who lost their funding due to economic climate;
  • Built tables, desks & chairs for Rosterman School;
  • Purchased photo copier, computers & videos for Mwikhoma Special School;
  • Sponsor a 3 day life skills workshop for 90 boys;
  • Purchased books, calculators and dictionaries for the 90 boys taking the 3 day seminar, our boys that we are sponsoring, and of course our library.
Yukon Food For Learning
  • Sponsoring 244 kid's nutritional needs in 5 separate schools for the 2011/2012 fiscal year;
  • Del Van Gorder School, Faro
  • Kluane Lake school, Destruction Bay
  • Neinah Bessie John School, Beaver Creek
  • St. Elias Community School, Haines Junction
  • Ross River School, Ross River
Thank you to our sponsors, donors and organizing team for making our events a success.

2010 Winter Fundraiser

GC4G kicked off its 2010 fundraising efforts with a booth at Mineral Exploration Roundup, the world's premier technical mineral exploration conference held annually in Vancouver. In addition to promoting the Foundation at Roundup 2010, GC4C hosted its annual winter fundraising party and silent auction at Smiley's Public House on January 20. This popular evening event was a great success thanks to the generous support of our Sponsors and many guests. We exceeded our goal and raised more than $18,000 from ticket sales, donations, the silent auction and sponsorships.

These successful fundraising events have allowed GC4C to support the Kenya Education Endowment Fund (www.kenyaeducation.org), which provides assistance to bright students who can't afford all or part of their school-related fees in Kenya's impoverished rural Western Province. The funds raised by GC4C to date are specifically directed toward the following purposes:
  • Sponsor at least four boys from a remote village for their secondary education;
  • Help build a primary school library with shelves, desks, chairs and books;
  • Purchase 550 textbooks to distribute to 50 children in Kenya, and;
  • Sponsor a life skills workshop for study and budgeting skills and HIV/AIDS info.

The support of a foundation such as GC4C is greatly needed in this area, where 75% of the population over 15 years of age is illiterate and where books are scarce and at a premium.

Thank you to our sponsors, donors and organizing team for making our events a success.
